DAY 1: ARRIVE CHENNAI
On arrival, meet our representatives from the airport/railway station and transfer to the selected hotel in Chennai and check-in. Later visit places like Fort St. George, built-in 1653, the ancient Anglican Church, St Mary’s Church and the 8th-century temples built by Pallavas, Kapaleeswarar Temple and Sri Parthasarathy Temple. Visit Marina Beach in the evening. Overnight stay in the hotel.
DAY 2: CHENNAI TO MAHABALIPURAM
After breakfast, drive to Mahabalipuram (known for its Dravidian style of architecture of stone sculptures and ancient temples and its pristine beach. Check-in at the hotel. Later you can visit beautiful creations like the Shore Temple, Caves, Krishna Mandapam, Five Rathas, Arjuna’s Penance. Return to the hotel. Overnight stay at hotel.
DAY 3: MAHABALIPURAM TO PONDICHERRY
On day 3, after breakfast, check out and proceed to Pondicherry. En route, you can visit the beautiful city of Tamil Nadu, Kanchipuram. After touring, continue to Pondicherry and check-in at the selected hotel. Overnight stay.
DAY 4: PONDICHERRY
After breakfast, we will proceed on a full-day excursion to Pondicherry. This place was earlier known as Puducherry, located on the east Indian seaboard. Here you would experience French influence architecture with a few Gallic accents. You can visit spots like Manakula Vinayagar Koil Temple, the Sacre Coeur Church, the Raj Nivas and Sri Aurobindo Ashram during the tour. Return to the hotel. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Sri Aurobindo Ashram is located on Rue de la Marine Street. One of the famously known ashrams established in 1926 by a saint-yogi and a philosopher-poet personality, Sri Aurobindo. He taught Integral Yoga, a new and modern way of mind development, a synthesis of yoga and modern science. Later another famous figure, a French painter, sculptor, and musician, Madame Mirra Richard Alfassa, joined him in continuing the new age of yoga. She continued the practice even after the death of Sri Aurobindo. She died in the year of 1973 at the age of 93.
The Pondicherry Museum is a museum which is one of the best attractions in Pondicherry located in Saint Louis street. It remains open all days between 10.00 am to 05.00 pm except Mondays and national holidays. The Pondicherry Museum was earlier a residence of the French Administrator. It has a vast collection of magnificent items from the Pallava and Chola dynasties, like rare bronzes and stone sculptures. It also has articles found in an ancient port site Arikamedu which is 7km from the central city. You can find vast Greek and Roman Jars collections, a pack of temple lamps, 200-year-old jewellery and precious stones, and some Chinese articles from the Tsung period.
Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is located on the South Boulevard, Subbayah Salai. It is a neo-gothic church furnished in white and brown, built in the 17th century by the French missionaries, one of the best Catholic Churches in Pondicherry.
Manakula Vinayagar Koil Temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesha, and it is more than 300 years old and has a golden spire.
DAY 5: PONDICHERRY TO TIRUCHCHIRAPPALLI.
Check out from the hotel after breakfast and proceed to Tiruchchirappalli. On arrival, check-in at the hotel and rest. Later, proceed for attractions like the Grand Anicut/Kallanai Dam (a popular picnic spot and the only stone dam in the world, which is 300m long ancient dam). Few more must-visit temples Ranganathaswamy Temple, Rockfort Temple, Jambukeshwara Temple in the city. Return to the hotel. Overnight stay at hotel.
DAY 6: TIRUCHCHIRAPPALLI TO THANJAVUR TO TIRUCHCHIRAPPALLI
You can go for an excursion tour to Thanjavur and witness the ancient formation built by Marathas, Nayaks and Cholas. They were also great humanitarians who supported art and culture during the period. You can also visit few other constructions and lawns like Sivagangai Garden, Sri Brihadeeswarar Temple, Mariamman Temple and Schwartz Church. Return to the hotel. Overnight stay at hotel.
TIRUCHCHIRAPPALLI – RAMESHWARAM
Check out from the hotel after breakfast and drive to Rameswaram. You can check in once you arrive. Later visit few attractions like Ramanathaswamy Temple and Gandhamadana Parvatam. Overnight stay at the hotel.
DAY 8: RAMESHWARAM TO MADURAI.
Check out from the hotel and proceed to India’s oldest city, Madurai. (It is an ancient city with many temples, derived from the name of divine nectar dripped from Shiva’s matted locks). Once you are here, you can visit sites like Thirumalai Nayak Mahal, Meenakshi Temple and Mariamman Teppakulam. Overnight stay at the hotel in Madurai.
MADURAI – KANYAKUMARI
Check out from Madurai hotel and proceed to Kanyakumari, located in the southernmost part of India (a meeting point of three oceans, Arabian Sea, Indian Ocean and Bay of Bengal). Here, you would visit Swami Vivekananda Memorial, Gandhi Memorial, Kanyakumari Temple and Sunset Point, from where you would get a fascinating sight of the sunset. Overnight stay at the hotel.
DAY 10: KANYAKUMARI TO TRIVANDRUM DEPARTURE
The last day of the tour will start with breakfast. You can check out later and be escorted to Trivandrum airport/railway station for your onward journey.
