Sikkim is a state in northeast India, bordered by Bhutan, Tibet and Nepal. The Himalayas area has a dramatic landscape that includes India’s highest mountain, 8,586m Kanchenjunga. Sikkim is also home to glaciers, alpine meadows and thousands of varieties of wildflowers.

Gangtok:

Gangtok is the capital of the mountainous North Sikkim. It was established as a Buddhist pilgrimage site. It’s a Tibetan Buddhist centre and a base for hikers organizing permits and transport for treks through Sikkim’s Himalayan mountain ranges.

 Via Air: The only airport in Sikkim’s state is Pakyong which is 30 km from Gangtok City and is not well connected with the rest of the Indian city. Currently, Bagdogra Airport, which is 125 km in West Bengal, serves every explorer to Sikkim. This air terminal is under the Indian Air Force and has a civil enclave. It is well-associated with all the major cities in India like Delhi, Guwahati, Bangalore, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata.  

 Via Train: The New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP), in Siliguri, 130 km, is the nearest railway station to Gangtok. Several trains pass through this station from many cities like New Delhi, Patna, Chennai, Amritsar, Udaipur, Ranchi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Trivandrum etc. There are many bus and prepaid taxi facilities available from the station to reach Gangtok.

 By Road: The national highway 31A links Gangtok with Siliguri, Kalimpong, and Darjeeling’s neighbouring cities. Frequent bus services are interconnecting these cities. The Sikkim Nationalised Transport (SNT) operates lots of buses on these routes.

Pelling‎:

Pelling is a small mountain town in the northeastern Indian state of Sikkim, at the foothills of India’s highest mountain, 8,586m Kanchenjunga. The late- seventeenth century Buddhist Sanga Choling Monastery has mountain views. Pemayangtse Monastery features wall paintings, sculptures and a gold-plated statue of Guru Padmasambhava. Overlooking a valley, the seventeenth-century Rabdentse Palace, now in ruins, still has evidence of the king’s bedroom and kitchen.

Via Air: The only airport in Sikkim’s state is Pakyong which is 130 km from Pelling City and is not well connected with the rest of the Indian city. Currently, Bagdogra Airport, which is 150 km in West Bengal, serves every explorer to Sikkim. This airport is under the Indian Air Force and has a civil community.  Lachung:

Lachung is a hill village close to the Tibetan border in the northeastern Indian state of Sikkim. The Lachung River partitions it. The village is home to the nineteenth-century Buddhist Lachung Monastery, surrounded by apple orchards. Close by, the Yumthang Valley’s Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary protects many species of rhododendron. The valley is also famous for its waterfalls, pine forests and hot springs.

By Road: Gangtok is well connected with Lachung by road only. Distance will be 105 km from Gangtok.

Lachen:

Lachen is a hill town in the North Sikkim district in the Indian state of Sikkim. It is located at a height of 2,750 metres. The name Lachen signifies “big pass”. The town is being promoted as a traveller destination by the Sikkimese government. The town forms the base of the Chopta Valley and Gurudongmar Lake.

By Road: Gangtok is well connected with Lachen by road only. The distance will be 110 km from Gangtok.

Ravangla‎:

Ravangla or Rawangla or Ravongla is a small tourist town situated at an elevation of 8000 ft in the South Sikkim district of the Indian state of Sikkim. It is well-connected by state highway to other major towns and lies between Pelling and Gangtok.
